Victoria’s Secret’s New Models

Photobucket

I recently got in the mail my new “Swimsuit” issue from Victoria’s Secret. It never fails…for the past 10+ years, around this time, I get this issue in the mail. For those of you that know me, you know that I have been a fan of Victoria’s Secret since I was a teenager. Each and every year I’d wait for the new line of Victoria’s Secret swimsuits to come out.  Then, inevitably each year I’d flip through the pages looking at the swimsuits that I could never wear. The girls in the swimsuits always had large implanted breasts, and I knew I could never fill out one of their suits.

As most of you also know, one of my biggest reasons for getting breast implants in my twenties was so that I could finally wear one of the Victoria’s Secret swimsuits that I yearned after for so many many years. Last spring, when I got the Victoria’s Secret swimsuit edition in the mail, I didn’t even look it…I threw it straight into the trash, determined not to let it get to my self-esteem (for those of you that don’t know, my implants were removed in 2007.) But, this year when I got this issue, something caught my eye. For the first time in as long as I could remember, the model on the cover did not have breast implants, and did not have large breasts for that matter. So, I decided to take a peak inside. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Victoria’s Secret had about 10 or so new models that I’d never seen before. Yes, they still had a lot of the same models, with the breast implants that they’ve had for many years. But low and behold, the new 10+ models did not have breast implants and did not have large breasts!

I must say that I was very happy to see this. As I have mentioned in a post before, I really feel like breast implants may FINALLY be making their way out the door. After 2+ decades of what has seemed like “breast implant hysteria,” we may finally be making our way out of all this nonsense.

I’d like to thank Victoria’s Secret for showcasing models without breast implants that have small breasts. I realize that Victoria’s Secret is where women in America look to for how and we are supposed to look (like it or not,) and I think it is great that they are moving towards showcasing natural, still absolutely beautiful models. It makes those women out there, like me feel like it is okay to have small, natural breasts. It makes us feel like you don’t have to possess large, implanted breasts to be beautiful, small breasts are just as beautiful as large breasts, and MUCH prettier than fake ones!!

Yay Victoria’s Secret!!

  2. After spending some time at the beach, watching Spring Breakers get started partying, I realized that every young woman was wearing a bikini. . . There was not a single one-piece suit in the crowd . . . not even a modest (cover the middle) two-piece suit! . . . Granted, almost all the girls looked great in their skimpy bikini’s . . . but I wondered where the “not so perfect” girls were hiding out? . . .

I think it’s time the fashion leaders started promoting some swimwear to the younger set that allows the “not so perfect” girls a chance to cover up a bit and join in on the fun! They might even make some money doing so!

. . . Interesting though! The guys were all wearing baggy suits that come to the knees! . . . It seems that the more the girls take off, the more the guys put on!

  3. Love the post and the new triangle bikini tops from Vicki’s!! I am so relieved that i have NEVER drank the boobjob koolaid! I have always liked my small breasts, and the idea that I did not have a bunch of extra fat reserves that I had to tote around on my chest! I feel badly for women who yearn for their sacks of fat….and even go “under” to stage the look! The money…the time lost….all to simply draw so much negative attention from BOTH sexes! It is crazy to me….I am raising two daughters and them (seem to) share my outlook as well.

If you get a boob job, LADIES! you do look like a bimbo! It is just that simple. If you are missing any of your “front 8″ teeth, you look like a redneck hillbilly/methhead. NO WAY AROUND THIS!!!!

In order to de-bimbo-fy our girls,,,we MUST lead by example!

  4. I am really happy that such a mainstream magazine is emmbracing additional body shapes as perfect. However, those small breasts are still on VERY slim women and I still think the body image overall is still pretty impossible to achieve. I would like to seem some fuller figured women in thos epages too. I am pretty slim at 5′8″ and 130, but I would still like to see some plus sized women with less than perfect breasts no matter what cup size they may be.

And to Amanda, I agree that in many repects that women are hypersexualized and that we need to set a better example for young women. I also am relieved that the implant look is fading in popularity. However to make the blanket statement that breast implants make you a bimbo is pretty close minded. My 65 year old mother has impants, does that mean she looks like a bimbo? Also, many people lose teeth for many reasons and I think it is pretty nasty to make comments about something that people can often not help.

  6. Finally “Victoria Secret” woke up and decided to embrace all the beautiful breasted women out there. If one thinks about it. Doctor’s are making a killing off the media pushing for women of all ages especially, the younger generation to feel insecure about what God has given them. These models clearly show how truly beautiful women are with small breast. Congratualions to “Victoria Secret” for finally waking up to what the rest of society has known all along. Small breasted women are truly beautiful and sexy!

  7. I am very glad that VS is embracing more than just one body type! I am also glad that their models almost always look toned and healthy rather than just starved and dying.
Unfortunately, my problem with VS swimsuits has always been that I can not fit my breasts into their suits without looking “morally questionable”
I’m a very slim, short young woman with larger breasts and these swimsuits just don’t cover enough!
VS needs to make cute swimsuits that can cover not only their new models but also their customers with large breasts that do NOT want to be as revealed up top as their models.
Often, I find that young large breasted girls are jealous of their small breasted counterparts– they get to wear all the cute clothes :)

  8. This is really great! I knew Victoria’s Secret was heading in the right direction when they introduced AA-cup bras (though the models were always shown having at least B-cups). There is still a very long way to go to convince women to accept their bodies the way they are, D-cups or AA-cups, square or hourglass, tall or short, but the fact that a big influential name like VS is making a statement about it shows that we’re getting somewhere.

  9. You have been FOOLED!! Easy mistake…especially for someone like yourself who is most likely an honest, sincere, optimistic and kind person. Unfortunately, consumers have lost their ability to think and perceive on their own. We don’t even realize it, but those that control the wealth of the world also control our thoughts, beliefs and perceptions. Let me explain….

Breast implants were a fad…go back 5 to 10 years ago and re-familiarize yourself with what women in the media looked like…what were their body shapes, what size jeans do you think they wore…Examples: Anna Nicole Smith, Carmen Electra, Tyra Banks…

What do these woman have that the models in the current Victoria Secret catalog do not have…HIPS, ASSES, CURVES, HOUR GLASS FIGURES

Do not be fooled into thinking that these huge corporations are suddenly changing with the times and becomeing more concerned with the self-esteem of all womankind…please…those bathing suits are made by men for the benefit of men = $$$

The fad of breast implants is out therefore, models with large implants do not sell bathing suits. Look around, open your eyes…

What’s the new fad??? Being a SIZE 1 or even 0. Ultra-thin! Remember when we thought Kate Moss was sooo sickly looking compared to her fellow supermodels? Kate Moss-thin is no longer uncommon…it is now the NORM.

We have a drug epidemic affecting young woman today like never before. Why? Because stimulant drugs make woman who are healthy at 125-140 pounds able to get down to 100-110 pounds within a month. Stimulant drugs has also replaced anorexia and bluemia…notice how those health diseases are also a thing of the past…they are no longer as “popular” with young woman today. Sure, why not? Why starve yourself and purge when you can just do cheap drugs?

Breast implants look just plain silly on someone who is 90 pounds…and MEN get bored easily, they like variety…they got bored of implants…in another 5 or 10 years they’ll bored with stick figures too…the important thing to think about is not what the next fad that will exploit women is, but will you allow yourself to fall for it…

Your best defense is to be passive…don’t let the superficial world in to YOUR world. Simple. Give it no thought and it won’t exist.

  10. There is always a business reason behind a clothing manufacturer’s decision to place certain models in their catalogs. I would bet that Victoria’s Secret conducted focus groups or surveys and discovered that smaller-breasted women were not purchasing from them possibly because they felt like they did not fit the image of the large-breasted model. VS realized it was alienating a large portion of purchasers and decided to put some models with smaller breasts in the catalog to test the waters and see the reaction. I think it’s great. I just wouldn’t ever think it was done out of social conscience.

On the other hand, wouldn’t it be interesting if the 16-year old daughter of one of the VS executives asked for breast implants?
