Ideal Implants might not be so ‘Ideal’

Filed under: Beauty, Breast Implants, Breasts, News, Plastic Surgery, Research, Women, Women's Health — bethtaylor @ 8:56 pm

I read about a ‘new’ and I use that term loosely, breast implant called the Ideal Implant.  These implants are currently under clinical trials.   They are described as having an inner core or lumen similar to the double lumen implants that were essentially a silicone gel implant surround by a saline implant.

The companies mission statement made me laugh a bit as I just thought this was another way of making women think they are doing something ’safe’.  Just like I was told when I had my saline implants 10 years ago.  The mission statement reads:

To offer women a breast implant that combines a natural, tissue-like feel with the safety of saline as the filler, for Peace of Mind.

Okay, for Peace of Mind?  I think not.  The company claims that they have used all the same materials for these implants that are in other implants.  If you remember from other posts those materials are TOXIC.  Really the only difference is a saline implant within a saline implant.  They also state that the implant is inserted empty and filled once placed inside the body with saline.  So I must ask myself what is so different other than having 4 saline implants in your body?

Let me show you some pictures to show you just how UNSAFE saline implants are.  I had my implants for 8 years and was completely disabled just after 5 years.  Take a look at some of these so called safe saline implants.  No, these aren’t the ‘Ideal Implants’ but in my opinion there is no difference since the company claims that they used the same materials as in other saline implants.

This first set almost killed the woman they were removed from.  She is still fighting to regain her health and yes, that is saline that you see in there.  Saline and a very toxic mix.

This set was removed from a lady that is also struggling with her health.  These implants made her very ill.  Yes, another set of saline implants.

Lastly, my implant, at least the worst one.  Keep in mind it looks not nearly as bad as the implants shown above.  However, after having them analyzed, my chemist said that there were chunks, yes chunks of bacteria and white mold growing inside.  These implants that are so commonly referred to as being safe changed my life forever.  Disabled at age 40 and explanted three years later because my doctors continued to mis-diagnose me.  Once I had the implants removed, my health started to improve and yes, these implants also came very close to taking my life.

I want to make it perfectly clear that saline implants are not safe.  Also, all these women used board certified Plastic surgeons.

Anything having to do with saline breast implants do not give me ‘Peace of Mind’.

  1. Those things– both the diagram and the actual product images –look (literally) “frightening” to me! Am I the only one experiencing this particular reaction to the thing?

  2. No, when I look at these implants, I am frightened to. Not just for me but for all the women that think these are completely safe. Women like myself think they are getting the ’safe’ implants and find themselves with all kinds of complications.

    Yes, it is very frightening.

  3. That fact is, is that there is no “safe” breast implant. There is no safe breast implant, because it is not safe to implant a foreign object into the human body. Everyone’s bodies react so different to having a foreign object placed in the body. Some may be fine, but many won’t. I always hear things like “my Mom has had her implants for 20 years with no problems….blah blah blah.” Well, that’s great and all, but that doesn’t mean that someone else won’t have a negative reaction to implants. Just because your Mom is fine, doesn’t mean that EVERY woman is going to fine. Also, there is no guarantee that your Mom may ALWAYS be fine. Implant illness can happen at any time…when a woman is first implanted, after a few years (like me,) or after many many years.
It’s just like that guy we talked about a few months ago. His body rejected silicone that was placed in his body to enhance a tattoo. You are basically playing Russian Roulette with your health when you choose to have breast implants placed in the body. Women are so concerned with vanity that they are willing to risk it (just see the post below this one to prove that.) NOTHING is worth risking your health over, I don’t understand how so many women justify it.

  4. Hi,

I am the owner of the second set of black implants you see on this post…I must inform all women out there that these are real pictures and the implants have contributed to my serious helath issues I have been facing for the last few years. I had the implants for 13 years before having them removed in Sept of 2007. Prior to removal I was having serious chest discomfort, pain and inflamation in the surrounding implant area, pain from the encapsulation of the implants, burning and stabbing pain in my breast, hair loss, bone and muscle pain and stiffness, severe and debilitating fatigue, renauds syndrome, tachacardia, asthma symptoms, and full body inflamation and several other symptoms that would come and go. Basically, felt as though I could die at times. Since explant I have improved somewhat but continue to detox my body from all the toxins that we released into my system via the broken down material of the implant. I had them implants tested but through a plastic surgery department and they said they did not find any fungus or mold, however they had been stored in formaldyhyde prior to testing…thus, killing any bacteria that may have been in them. I am told they turned black from the fact that my implanting surgeon had injected an antibiotic (keflen) into the implants prior to insersion. This practice was done at the discretion of the surgeon to supposably help ward off bacteria with in the saline. However, studies showed this in fact did not work and actually made a more toxic environment inside the implant…allowing this substance to leach out over time as the impant aged and the outer silicone shell slowly began to deteriorate. I was told that saline implants were safe and I would never have to replace them unless they deflated and that my body would not be harmed because it was only salt water!!! Doctors and the government have been aware for years that these implants fail after so many years and also that the practice of adding antibiotics was unsafe…why weren’t we ever told!!! Now I am dealing with the clean up of a sess-pool of infection with in my body and after sever thousands of dollars and continuous pain sufffering, fatigue…trying to lead a somewhat normal life. I can only work part time due to the fatique and my physical self is limited in what I can do…just small household chores have become a struggle. I am 45 years old and should be a the prime of my life…however, I feel as though I am 80 and struggle to get through the day. SO please take my experience and seriously consider the reprecusions of implants before you play Russian Roullette with your own life. : (

P.S. FYI In response to one of the above mentioned posts. Yes, there are some women out there who have not had any issues with there implants (yet)! I have several girlfriends who are fine…and I pray for there continued health everyday. But I was fine for about 8-10 years to …then it hit me. I never thought anything would happen to ME! But it did and so with thousands of other women out there…so don’t think you are immune to the possibility. ESPECIALLY if you have a past of having any immune system issues…such as mono..Ebstien Barr Virus, Herpe’s Simplex I or II, Lymes disease, etc. One your immune system has been comprimised any foreign object is going to reak havoc with-in your body. But even a healthy immune system can be affected once toxins are introduced into your system. Do what you can to keep the pressure of society to get ahold of you…I did me and now I am paying the ultimate price. What good is a nice set of boobs to someone who can’t even get out of bed from being so ill???

Thanks for taking the time to read this post..God Bless!

  5. Holly, I hope you start to feel better very soon. I know how these implants have affected your health.

I know that Keflex which is a strong anti-biotic was inserted into the first set of implants as well. It was believed that this would prevent mold and bacteria from growing inside the implants.

So with this being said, there had to be many PS’s out there that knew bacteria would eventually grow within these implants and they thought Keflex was the answer but in reality, it made what would eventually start growing inside much more toxic.

Take care and thank you for taking the time to comment on your saline implants and what they did to you and your health. Get well!
