World’s “Best” Plastic Surgeon goes on Trial

I read this article today and was amazed and shocked that something like this could happen in THIS century. Michel Maure who claims to be one of the world’s top plastic surgeons went on trial on June 2nd. He is accused of mutilating and endangering the lives of nearly 100 patients.
He is alleged to have left his victims (mostly women) physically and psychologically scarred from failed operations which included breast implants, liposuction, facelifts and rhinoplasty. He operated in a dirty rundown surgery center and failed to give the patients enough anesthetic.
One of Dr. Maure’s former patients claims that her new breast implant slid into her armpit overnight.
Another former patient claims while driving home from her midriff liposuction, her shoes started filling up with blood.
Another, who was given a facelift, said “I can’t feel my ears anymore. He made me suffer.”
Another woman describes the pain as Dr Maure operated locally to reduce the size of a breast. “Throughout the operation, I was telling him that it hurt and I could feel and hear his instruments cutting … at the end he said that he could not give me any more injections. He sewed me up raw.”
Yet another patient described how she approached the surgeon for liposuction. “He said, ‘I am No 1. I have done this thousands of times.’ He was very charming and he made the operation sound ordinary.” She heard and felt everything during the operation” and left the clinic in shock and later entered the hospital.
Another woman described hearing screams from a patient in an adjoining room while Dr Maure allegedly carried out two operations simultaneously.
Dr Maure, an anesthetist by training, was able to operate as a cosmetic surgeon under a loophole in French law that was closed only in 2002. Plastic surgery was not regulated in
Prosecutors and victims’ lawyers say that Dr Maure, who qualified as a doctor in 1974, attracted patients with smooth salesmanship and via an internet site called magicclinic.com. He offered relatively low rates and easy methods of payment.
Wow! I would really like to hear what others have to say about this. I personally cannot believe that something like this could actually happen in this day and age. How easy it would be for any “Joe” to put up a plastic surgery website, claiming to be one of the top plastic surgeons in the world, open up an office in a strip mall and start operating.

By what yardstick can this person be said to be the “world’s best” plastic surgeon? He must have given himself that title.

Yep, he definitely did. What an easy sell.
“I’m the world’s best plastic surgeon!”
“oh, great, operate on me!”
Those stories are so awful! I can’t believe what happened to these patients. And a maximum of four years?!

If you’re looking for other plastic surgery nightmares…Florida comes to mind. That state seems plum full of crazy surgeons, unrealistic expectations, and gullible women. I can’t tell you how many awful stories I’ve heard from women that live there. It’s got to the point that every time I hear a plastic surgery nightmare…I immediately wonder if it happened in our southernmost state. I would do TONS of research before opting for surgery there; they just don’t seem to have it together.

A Dr like this might get poisened in prison! He better watch what he eats and drinks. Alot of inmates are probably seeing this and saying this is a sick pup!!!
Yes the south is pretty crazy! Alot of doctors do not carry and medical malpractice insurance,LAW- And If they don’t they have to post a “sign” prominently stating they do not have any insurance!!!!! I will share this, both me and my sister, both of our plastic surgeons did not have a “sign” displayed in the reception area OR provide a written statement to any person to whom medical services are being provided :to/patient: that :they/the doctor:, Have Decided Not To Carry Medical Malpractice Insurance. Also that such a sign OR notice MUST CONTAIN the wording specified in s.458.32o (5)(g) or 459.0085(5)(g),F.S.
Now anyone if they knew this would not go to these doctors, they would run the other direction.
This one feels pretty close to home, since my ps was to be the BEST in Florida, 39 years board certified, but was so money hungry, greedy, and sick in the head, like this!!!!!!
I hope that they suffer ten times worse than we did! sorry but that’s how I will always feel. GOD please forgive me…
