Plastic Surgery While You Are On Vacation?

I don’t know about the rest of you, but when I am on vacation the LAST thing I am thinking about is going under the knife, under anesthesia, being bruised and bandaged up, in pain, barely able to move, etc. When I am on vacation I am thinking about spending time with my loved ones, being active, sightseeing, feeling good, enjoying every second of my time away from the office and everyday chores and errands.
I recently read this article explaining that now you can rent a summer home in the Hamptons that comes with unlimited plastic surgery! Dr. Stephen Greenberg, a New York plastic surgeon unveiled this summer getaway package last week. He is offering along with the summer home, all the plastic surgery you could ask for, a nurse, chauffeur, chef and VIP access to various clubs (uuuuhhh…….how in the world are you going to go to a club right after you’ve undergone your unlimited surgery?) all for only a half million dollars!
Dr. Darrick Antell, an attending plastic surgeon at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital in New York and a spokesman for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, was quoted as saying “you may cloud your medical judgment if there is money of this size involved,” Antell said, suggesting that such a plastic surgery package could violate the ethical standards of the society. “What would you do if somebody purchased this package and then gave you a menu of plastic surgery options? You would then feel obligated to do the surgery,” Antell said. “It brings down the doctor-patient relationship.”
I don’t know about the rest of you, but I find this appalling! When did plastic surgery become so common that you can now just “drop by” and choose your surgery off of a menu!?! I’d also like to know…..where is this surgery being performed, is Dr. Greenberg doing a thorough assessment of each patient’s physical, emotional and mental health before he accepts their half million?

I met Dr. Greenberg during a taping of a talk show. He proudly boasted to me that he does more implants than practically any other surgeon. His wife looked like a more plastic (older) version of Barbie (about to topple over) and she didn’t even make it to the audience…they put her “behind the scenes”. If I’m not mistaken, the show was about an 18 year-old (who had yet to fully even develop hips and appeared more like 16) who wanted to get breast implants. Like many shows, I was brought on to try and shed light on the negatives of surgery, however, her mind was made up as she was already a patient of Dr. Greenberg. Funny how that seems to always be the case on these types of shows? I wish I could actually speak to high schoolers/college students who were just thinking of plastic surgery and not already connected with a surgeon waiting on their operation day to get here.

This is sad and immoral!like the lady in the picture in the bikini w the face masked up, making it look so simple and easy, no pain, well enough to sit in a bikini and stare in a mirror, its not like that! How much surgery can one body take for a half a million?my vaca would be the same..enjoying my family, laughing, seeing the sights…i never want to go through the stress of a possible death on the table again, life is to precious and short to play russian roulette. now with c diff and mersa, the last place i want to be is under a knife.another survivor of breast implants in 2000, i too learned the very hard way,my imune syste is still attacking my own body and all that you hear about breast implants fols is as real as it gets, true and very sad, its all over the internet now.mold and bacteria in vaulves of saline implants or in /around the implant. silicone leaking or just eating through your skin like it did to me,and as the so called experts say, they dont know what happens when it leaves the capsules..they sure dont know, it shows up all over throghout your body causing organs to fail and showing on mris and cts.it can easily end up on your arotic arch, like where mine sits.vacation would be lovely if i could enjoy it now pain free and not be sick in a far away bed the whole time! thanks for letting me share!are you HLA-B27 positive? god bless kerry

I was reading your reply and you are spot on. My dad was a general surgeon and the Docs today (at least some of them) put patient care WAY behind their personal financial gain. It was refreshing to see that other doctor (Antell) that presented a voice of reason. You asked Kacey if she was HLA -B27 positive. Are you? I am. Expresses itself as spondylitis.

Garry, doctors were on the fence as if I had spondylitis. Some said yes, others no, and then I just ran with the rheumatoid arthritis (as everyone agreed on that one). I’m not sure if I am HLA-B27 positive, but it’s something to look in to. Had I known this, and about implants, how nice would it have been to be able to avoid this whole negative experience? There truly needs to be a way to determine who is susceptable to autoimmune disease, so that they can avoid foreign objects.
