What does it mean when the Queen of Porn is happy to get rid of her implants?

Jenna Jameson, the brightest star in the porn universe, whose iconic status in adult films brought her cross-over name-recognition and mainstream appeal, is quitting the industry, reports US Weekly. To show the world she means it, she visited plastic surgeon Garth Fisher on August 1 and had her implants taken out.

In an interview with US Weekly, Jameson says:

When I had implants, I felt uncomfortable. I would be shy at the beach. I know it sounds funny, but I’d wear high-necked clothes – unless I was at an adult-film convention. So I thought, Why don’t I be who I am and get my real ones back?

How has the operation changed her?

Even for women with naturally large boobs, getting a reduction is so freeing. I feel like I can stand up straighter…before, when I jogged, I had to hold my boobs. I looked like I was molesting myself!

And how did she feel afterward?

Ecstatic. The first thing I did when I got home was open my bra. I wasn’t supposed to but I did. I was so happy, I cried. It was like looking into the mirror when I was 17.

Let me repeat it to make sure you didn’t miss it: Porn icon Jenna Jameson was “ecstatic” and “was so happy, [she] cried” after she got rid of her implants.

The porn industry has played a huge role in making large, obviously fake breasts familiar and socially acceptable, and Jameson’s status in that industry is so stratospheric that she has virtually become it’s walking emblem. She is the porn fantasy that millions of women aspire to be. She is the porn fantasy that porn stars aspire to be. If I had to point the finger at the one person responsible for the rising popularity of cosmetic breast augmentation today, Jameson would be among the very top finalists. So, for Jameson to openly admit pure joy in ridding her body of implants is nothing short of remarkable.

Why? Because she’s telling the world that the enhanced body that made her famous was a fantasy she never bought into. It was a fantasy that made her uncomfortable and even embarrassed. She is telling the world that even she, the Queen of Porn, walked off the set at the end of the day and returned to normal life, that the implants were nothing but props that she would have left behind if she could.

Meanwhile, women are lining up for breast implants, many of them naturally beautiful, but who won’t be content until they attain the Barbie Doll figure made popular by porn. But Jameson has shown us that she knows the difference between fiction and reality.

I hope that among her legions of fans, there will be some who will learn that lesson too.
